Foot Valve

The Bottom Flapper Foot Valve prevents water from draining back into the reservoir, protecting the pump from dry running. Its integrated stainless-steel strainer blocks coarse particles, ensuring clean water suction and extended pump life.

TECHNICAL DATA

  • Body Material: Cast iron / ductile iron (optional)

  • Strainer Material: Stainless steel (AISI 304/316 depending on the model)

  • Function: Foot valve with check mechanism and built-in strainer

  • Connection: Flanged

  • Operation: Automatic flapper closure by gravity

  • Media: Clean water, groundwater, surface water, irrigation water

The Bottom Flapper Foot Valve is a critical water control component installed at the pump suction line to maintain the system’s prime and prevent reverse water flow. When the pump stops, the flapper closes automatically, ensuring that water remains within the suction pipe. This eliminates the risk of the pump operating without water, which can otherwise cause severe damage.

Equipped with a durable stainless-steel strainer (crepine), the valve filters incoming water and blocks coarse particles from entering the pump and the pipeline. By preventing debris entry, it safeguards the pump against wear, cavitation, clogging, and performance loss.

This combined flapper and strainer design ensures efficient suction, long equipment life, and reliable pump operation in a wide range of clean water and semi-contaminated water applications.
