Needle Valve

Needle valve with axially mounted piston, providing precise linear flow control and optional hydraulic operation for safe pump start-up and shutdown.

TECHNICAL DATA

  • Valve Type: Needle Valve / Check Needle Valve

  • Operation: Gearbox Operated (Hydraulic Control Optional)

  • Flow Control: Linear Piston Movement

  • Piston Mounting: Axial

  • Motion Conversion: Crank–Connector Mechanism

  • Closing / Opening Speed: Adjustable

  • Application Type: Flow Control and Pump Protection

The needle valve is designed with an axially mounted piston inside the valve body, allowing highly precise control of flow rate through linear piston movement. As the piston moves linearly, the cross-sectional flow area changes proportionally, enabling accurate and stable flow regulation.

The circular motion generated by the gearbox is converted into linear piston movement through a crank–connector mechanism. This mechanical design ensures smooth operation, precise positioning and reliable control even under variable flow conditions.

Needle valves can be supplied as standard flow control valves or converted into hydraulically operated check needle valves by integrating a hydraulic control system according to project requirements. Hydraulically controlled needle valves are particularly effective in protecting pumps and pipeline equipment, as they can respond rapidly during pump start-up or sudden shutdowns.

The opening and closing times of the valve can be adjusted precisely to match the operating conditions of the system, preventing pressure surges and minimizing hydraulic shock. The hydraulic drive system is engineered for maximum efficiency, taking into account pipeline pressure, flow rate and operational characteristics.

Thanks to their robust construction and precise control capability, needle valves are widely used in critical water transmission and pumping applications where controlled flow regulation and system protection are essential.
